Why

Well, why not?

Blogging as Aphra

I started a pseudonymous blog in 2006 and I covered a wide range of subjects (hence the strap-line) including the debacle of the junior doctors’ recruitment crisis in 2006.  In 2008 or so I started….

Bloggging as myself

I wanted a new job and was interested in social media, and I blogged about Business Analysis in my own name for a couple of years.  Then when I got a new job in 2010 I ended up…

Stopping the blogging

I simply did not have the time for one blog, let alone two.  But I do have things to say, and so I am….

Starting again

I’ve merged the two blogs and I expect to blog when the mood takes me, maybe monthly, maybe more.

But why?

To answer the question “why?” I blog about topics that attract my atttention, where I have something to say or something I am thinking about. It amuses and interests me.  I hope it does the same for you.

  1. Hi
I also love being a business analyst. I have been an analyst for over 20 years. I have recently started publishing business analysis books. Thats the new thing Analyst do when the retire. These are easy how to guides and they are selling really well on lulu.com. I would like to invite you to visit my website )(www.echoicesolutions.com). On the services and products link you will find information on how to purchase electronic eAnalyst Redbooks. I priced them really low – 25.00. I guess that is why everyone is buying. I have and Introduction To Business Analysis and a Business Analysis Templates books. These books combined are great resources for conducting business analysis. I will like to get your thoughts.

  2. Hi Ben,

Good to see a good blog site about Business Analysis.

I have recently started my won blog site and need some help. I’m using wordpress, how could i write blogs against each page? Like if i have page1 (Busienss Analysis) and Page2 (General). Now how can i write BA blogs against Page1 only?

    Best,
    K.

  3. Hi DeEtta, thanks for letting me know about your site and your books. I’m stacked out with reading right now, but I took a look at the Lulu site and they do look interesting. I like the idea of a book of templates.

Hi Kashif, thanks for dropping by. I don’t think WordPress will do what you’ve described. They have two separate entities: blog entries and pages. Blog entries cascade below each other in what is basically one long list. Pages sit side by side, and you cannot create the list-effect that you have with blog entries. The default setting seems to be to have the blog entries as the point of entry for your site.

However, all is not lost. Use the Category feature to set Categories when you publish a blog post, and put a Categories widget into your side bar. The Category Cloud is a particularly cool version of the widget, though I’ve got for a pulldown menu in mine.

The best advice I can give you if you want to understand what WordPress can do for you is to spend far too much of your life playing around with it!

    😀

Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging!

    Ben
