Very Moorish

I am fortunate to live in a particularly photogenic part of the world. Here are some of the highlights from the last 12 weeks or so:

Melodramatic sunset

Heather on the high hills
Heather on the high hills – it was extraordinary, smelling of honey

Early morning mist (i)
Early morning mist (i) – it vanished before my eyes going from thickish fog to blazing sunshine in about 12 minutes

Early morning mist (ii)
Early morning mist (ii) – a different day and a different kind of drama

As I said, I am very fortunate where I live. These are posted because we are about to tumble into winter, and from the end of this month onwards I’ll only see the place in daylight at the weekends. I’ve got “wireless network webcam” on my wish-list, but unfortunately I don’t believe in Santa Claus.

  1. Ooh, heather! Just like a song 🙂 I always imagined it to be more thistley and spiky.

  2. wow! its so nice,, u really live there? really amazing!

  3. Thank you very much.

I took the photograph of the heather about 4 miles from where I live but I took the others from nearby the house. I am indeed very fortunate in where I live.

    Thanks for the comments.

  4. Of course you know you’ve got it the wrong way around with the smell of the heather don’t you? It is the honey that smells of the heather, unless you buy one of those funny foreign specialist honeys where the bees only have access to orange blossom or something.

We are getting a lots of morning mists over the fields too. Aaahhh autumn, season of mists and mellow fruitfulness (who was it said this before Mr Kipling?)

    Lovely pics, lovely views.

  5. Those pictures are stunning! Thanks so much for sharing them with us!

  6. Gods that’s georgeous. I’m so jealous. Particularly of your fog. Athough there’s a tinge of irritation with you for being so good at the photography too.

  7. You know I’m your biggest fan.

The quality of light in that first photo is breathtaking.

  8. These make me feel so happy — I so enjoyed seeing your wonderful landscape. Thanks for posting them. xxoo, BL

  9. It is seeing such sights as you’ve captured on my way to work that I’m glad I no longer commute by tube in London.
